2025 BMW X3 Receives PHEV Powertrain (again)

“Hey man, actually, PHEV is nothing new for the BMW X3. In fact, the BMW X3 had a PHEV powertrain for MY2021.” Thank you, random BMW fan. You’re completely right. The 2021 BMW X3 most certainly had a plug-in hybrid powertrain but was discontinued since. Perhaps it was the lukewarm reception due to its, let’s be honest, unimpressive 17-mile range. Paying a premium price tag for 17 miles of range was simply nonsensical to many shoppers. Learning from their mistakes, BMW has innovated in the battery department since, with some models reaching up to 50 miles of battery-only range. Only time will tell, but it’s highly likely that the 2025 BMW X3 PHEV will receive a beefier battery to increase range and appeal.

BMW Will Offer a BMW X3 EV Variant

You heard that right. BMW has been developing a new design language for their dedicated EV platform. Dubbed “Neue Klasse” (New Class), this dedicated EV platform will allow BMW to produce bigger, faster, and more capable electric vehicles in the near future. According to BMW CEO, Oliver Zipse, the new, Neue Klasse vehicles will be a “quantum leap”, a radically different approach in terms of sustainability, design, and technology. Again, only time will reveal specific details, but look to the China-Exclusive BMW iX3 for more clues.

On a completely unrelated topic, the 2025 BMW X3 is also expected to receive a new trim dubbed the 2025 BMW X3 M50i.
